Descending a Hill
To ride down a hill with the ATV, follow
the instructions below.
1. Check the terrain carefully for any
obstacles before you start down
the hill.
2. Point the ATV straight downhill.
3. Transfer body weight to the rear
by sliding back on the seat.
4. Shift the transmission into a low
gear and ride down the hill slowly
with the throttle released.
5. Apply the rear brake to control
downhill speed.
NOTE: Operating any brake control
will brake at both front and rear
wheels.
6. Avoid going down a hill at an
angle that would cause the vehicle
to lean sharply to one side. Go
straight down the hill where possi-
ble.
Traversing a Slope
When traversing a slope, you should:
1. Lean your body uphill.
2. Steer slightly uphill, if necessary,
to maintain a straight course.

Going down a hill improperly can
be hazardous.
Going down a hill improperly can
cause loss of control or cause the
ATV to overturn.
Always follow the proper proce-
dures for going down hills as
described in this section.

Crossing hills or turning on hills
improperly can be hazardous.
Crossing hills or turning on hills
improperly can cause loss of con-
trol or cause the ATV to overturn.
Never attempt to turn the ATV
around on any hill until you have
mastered the turning technique as
described in the CLIMBING A HILL
section. Practice this technique
on level ground. Be very careful
when turning on any hill. Avoid
crossing the side of a steep hill if
possible.
