15 Chapter 3: Install DS1010+ Firmware
If you want to install using the GUI:
Go to 1 /usr/local and /usr/local/bin and delete the following folders (if any):
Synology, SynologyAssistant
Insert the installation CD into your computer, and then double-click the 2
SynologyInstall icon on the desktop.
In the File Browser window that appears, double-click the 3 Linux folder, and then
double-click Synology Assistant-2.2-[number].tar.gz.
Click 4 Extract, and then extract the SynologyAssistant directory to the path “/usr/
local” or any other path.
Important: If you are using 64bit Ubuntu, you have to install the 32bit libraries before
proceeding. To install, type the following command in Terminal:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
