PRESENTATION:
WDF 10000 is a complete, compact filtering system developed specifically to clean garden ponds.
Its small size facilitates maintenance work and means it is easier to find space for it in the garden.
Working together with the TX 2500 pump, suitable for continuous duty, it purifies water in four successive stages:
- UV-C sterilizing filter, which eliminates bacteria and helps eliminate algae.
- mechanical filtering consisting of a decanting stage and subsequent filtration through sponges.
- aeration stage through wet & dry screen, which replenishes the water’s oxygen levels and encourages gaseous exchange with the atmosphere.
- biological filtering, whereby the filter develops effectively on the surface to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria colonies.
This is how the system keeps the water in your pond clear and clean.
SAFETY RULES:
- make sure the voltage on the product’s label matches mains voltage.
- The product must be plugged into an earthed socket.
- It is essential the product be protected upstream by a residual current circuit breaker (mains trip switch) with a tripping current < 30 mA.
- Before connecting the unit to the mains, make sure the cables are not damaged in any way.
- The product features a Z connector, namely the cables and plugs cannot be replaced or repaired. If either is damaged, the whole unit must be replaced.
- WARNING disconnect the unit from the mains before carrying out any kind of maintenance in or out of the water. If the plugs or power socket are wet, switch off
power with the master switch before unplugging the power cords.
- to stop accidental dripping from wetting the plug or power socket, use the cable to create a drip loop below the level of the plug.
- when installing and maintaining the unit, do not lift it by the power cord.
- keep out of reach of children.
- do not operate the product with corrosive or abrasive liquids.
- protect from freezing conditions. Do not use the unit and instead remove it from the water if there is any danger of the water freezing.
- The product cannot be used in water hotter than 35°C.
- The WDF 10000 filter has been designed for use outdoors, but must never be immersed in water.
- DANGER: avoid direct contact with UV-C light, which can be dangerous for eyes and skin.
- To prevent the lamp overheating, switch it off when no water is running directly past.
- WARNING: Stop using the UV sterilizer temporarily during treatment with water and/or fish care products.
- WARNING: the lamp must be changed by qualified personnel only.
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION:
- install the UV-C sterilizer in the compartment under the case, fastening it with the relevant fittings and rubber seal as illustrated on page 1 (A, B)
- install the drain valve with the relevant fittings and seal as illustrated on page 1 (C)
- install the outlet fitting with the relevant filter and seal as illustrated on page 1 (C)
- position the sponges as illustrated on page 2 (D)
- place the biological filtering material in the relevant compartment as illustrated on page 2 (D)
- position the wet & dry perforated screen as illustrated on page 2 (D)
- assemble the cover with the 2 pipes and sponge retaining grid. (E)
- INLET connection: connect the pump with the hose-end fitting and 3m helically wound hose to the UV-C sterilizer’s inlet as illustrated on page 2 (F) Where neces-
sary, use a clamp to make the connection more secure.
- OUTLET connection: connect the 2m helically wound hose to the outlet fitting as illustrated on page 2 (F) Where necessary, use a clamp to make the connection
more secure.
- determine which point near the pond makes the best location, bearing in mind the lengths of the pipes supplied.
- Switch on the pump, check to see that the filter fills and that water comes out of the outlet correctly. It is not a problem if the sponge rises since the grid located
on the cover will keep it in the correct working position.
- Close the cover.
- Switch on the UV-C sterilizer and check that the lamp is working through the opaque glass screen.
WARNING:
- the filter must always be positioned above the pond’s water level.
- place the filter horizontally (to prevent water overflowing).
- to encourage water to leave the filter, the outlet pipe must never be higher than the level of the connection hole it comes from.
- if there is any overflowing, make sure that the wet & dry screen and the filter in the discharge chamber are clean.
At this point, your filter is ready to start work.
MAINTENANCE:
Cleaning the pump:
- always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance work
- make sure the pump’s protective housing is not entirely clogged by leaves or other debris. If it is, clean the housing.
- remove the pump from the protective housing; turn the impeller cover anticlockwise; remove the rotor, being careful not to lose the shock absorbers or O-ring; rinse
under running water and check for wear - turn the rotor while holding the shaft still and make sure rotation is smooth. Fit everything back together in the reverse
order, being extra careful to position the components correctly.
Cleaning the UV-C sterilizer:
Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance work.
If you notice an increase in algae formation and/or see that limescale is increasing, you will need to check that the UV-C unit is working properly. To assure peak
efficiency, the UV-C lamp must be replaced ever 5000 hours of operation.
