New machine, - be careful
1 Read the directions for use. Great care must be taken, when starting up a new machine. Incorrect
mounting, wrong operations etc. can result in expensive repairs and loss of profits. Taarup's
factory guarantee is annulled if the instructions of this manual are not adhered to. The machine
must be assembled in accordance with the special assembly instructions supplied with the machine.
Pay particular attention to this symbol, - it emphasises operations where great care
must be taken in order to avoid incorrect mounting, wrong operation etc.
Be especially attentive to the following when starting a new machine.
2 Check that the machine is mounted correctly, and that it is not damaged. Be certain that the hydraulic
hoses are mounted so that they are long enough to allow for cylinder movements.
3 Be very careful when fitting the P.T.O. shaft. If the P.T.O. shaft is too short or too long it can cause
great damage to the machine and tractor.
If the P.T.O. shafts of the machine are noisy or vibrating the fitting instructions must be repeated,
- see page 29 and 33.
4 The machine is equipped with a friction clutch. The clutch moment can be Nm = 900, 1200 or 1450,
depending on drawbar or gear type. The clutch moment is stamped into the clutch at B. Check that
the correct clutch is mounted - see page 51.
The clutch must be maintained as shown in this operator's manual, and then must not be blocked or
in any way functionally by-passed, either partially or completely.
Note: Before starting a new machine, the friction clutch must be bled - see page 51.
5 The machine gear is marked by a label, shown at A. This label may be red, green or black
depending on the type of drawbar fitted. Check that the machine has the correct type of gear fitted
- see page 27 (swivel hitch) and page 31 (wide-angle hitch).
6 Before starting up a new machine it must be lubricated. Check that cutterbar, angle gear and gearbox
(swivel hitch) are filled with oil and that the oil level is correct. Use only the oil grades prescribed in
the manual.
7 Check that all bolts at cutting discs and rotor are tightened before the machine is started.
Check and re-tighten all bolts on the machine after the first hour of operation. This is especially
important for fast rotating parts. Also re-tighten after service work has been carried out.
