Buttons

a
mark
can
be
operated
with
the
remote
control
(as
long
as
the
power
cord
of
the
receiver
is
plugged
into
an
AC
wall
outlet).
FRONT
PANEL

POWER
Button
Press
this
button
to
turn
the
power
ON;
the
LED
indicator
incorporated
in
the
VOLUME
control
knob
will
light.
Press
it
again
to
turn
the
power
OFF;
the
indicator
will
go
out.
Note:
Whenever
the
power
is
turned
ON,
the
frequency
of
the
last
broadcast
received
appears
in
the
Frequency/Tuner
mode
display,
and
the
FUNCTION
before
the
power
is
switched
off
will
be
selected.

STATION
MEMORY
Buttons
These
buttons
are
used
to
store
the
frequencies
of
AM
and
FM
stations
in
the
tuning
memory
and
to
tune
to
the
frequencies
of
stations
that
have
been
stored
in
memory.
The
number
of
the
button
selected
will
be
indicated
on
the
display
with
the
letters
“ch”
(channel).

Infrared
Signal
Reception
Window
The
infrared
signal
transmitted
from
the
remote
control
unit
enters
the
receiver
through
this
window.
Point
the
top
of
the
remote
control
unit
at
this
window.

Frequency/Tuner
Mode
Display
This
display
indicates
the
frequency
being
received
and
also
indicates
the
following:
@
STEREO:
Lights
to
show
that
an
FM
stereo
broadcast
is
being
received.
AUTO:
Lights
to
show
that
the
AUTO
tuning
mode
has
been
selected.
AM,
FM2
or
FM
1:
Indicates
the
band
being
received.
MEMORY:
Lights
for
five
seconds
when
the
MEMORY
button
is
pressed.
MHz
or
kHz:
Indicates
the
frequency
unit
of
the
band
selected.
“MHz”
lights
when
the
FM
band
is
selected
and
“kHz”
lights
when
the
AM
band
is
selected.
Preset
Channel
Display:
The
channel
number
selected
by
pressing
one
of
the
STATION
MEMORY
buttons
is
displayed.

TUNED
Indicator
This
indicator
lights
when
correctly
tuned
to
a
broadcast.
©
VOLUME
Control
This
control
is
used
to
adjust
the
level
of
the
signals
output
to
the
speakers
and
headphones.
The
LED
indicator
in
the
VOLUME
control
knob
shows
the
current
setting.
When
the
MUTING
button
is
pressed,
the
LED
will
flash.
@
SPEAKERS
Select
Buttons
When
either
the
A
or
B
button
is
pressed,
sound
is
output
from
the
speakers
connected
to
the
SPEAKERS
A
or
B
terminals
on
the
rear
panel.
When
the
A
and
B
buttons
are
pressed
simultaneously,
the
built-in
surround
sound
circuit
is
engaged.
For
a
better
surround
sound
effect
with
a
greater
feeling
of
presence,
place
the
speakers
connected
to
the
SPEAKERS
A
terminals
in
front
of
the
listening
position,
and
the
speakers
connected
to
the
SPEAKERS
B
terminals
behind
the
listening
position.

PHONES
Jack
This
jack
is
for
the
connection
of
headphones
with
a
standard
1/4”
(6.35
mm
dia.)
stereo
phone
plug.

TUNING
MODE
Button:
This
button
is
used
to
alternate
between
the
AUTO
and
MANUAL
tuning
modes.
@
BASS
and
TREBLE
Controls
These
two
tone
controls
-
BASS
and
TREBLE
-
are
used
to
obtain
a
“flat”
frequency
response
or
the
tone
which
suits
your
individual
listening
preference.
The
BASS
control
adjusts
low
frequencies
and
the
TREBLE
control
adjusts
high
frequencies.
@
MEMORY
Button
This
button
is
used
to
preset
AM
or
FM
stations.
When
this
button
is
pressed,
the
word
“MEMORY”
will
be
displayed
for
5
seconds.
If
one
of
the
preset
buttons
is
pressed
during
this
interval,
the
station
will
be
stored
into
the
tuning
memory.
Up
to
total
24
stations
8
AM
stations,
8
stations
in
the
FM1
band
and
8
stations
in
the
FM2
band
can
be
stored
in
memory.
BALANCE
Control
This
control
is
used
to
adjust
the
balance
between
the
left
and
right
speakers.
Normally
set
to
the
center
(click)
position.
FUNCTION
Selector
Buttons
and
Indicators
Press
the
appropriate
button
to
choose
the
required
source
(among
TAPE/DAT
MONITOR,
CD/VCR,
PHONO,
TUNER).
The
indicator
corresponding
to
the
button
pressed
will
light
when
the
source
is
selected.
~
TAPE/DAT
MONITOR:
To
listen
to
a
pre-recorded
tape
using
a
tape
deck.
-CD/VCR:
To
listen
to
a
CD
player
or
VCR
connected
to
the
CD/VCR
input
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
Follow
the
CD
player
or
VCR's
instruction
manual.
-PHONO:
To
listen
to
records
played
on
a
turntable
(with
a
moving
magnet
cartridge)
connected
to
the
PHONO
input
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
-TUNER:
To
listen
to
an
AM
or
FM
broadcast
using
the
tuner
built
into
the
receiver.
@
AM/FM
Selector
Buttons
FM:
When
this
button
is
pressed,
FM
broadcasts
can
be
received.
Each
time
the
button
is
pressed,
reception
alternates
between
bands
FM1
and
FM2.
When
an
FM
stereo
broadcast
is
received,
the
stereo
indicator
lights.
AM:
When
this
button
is
pressed,
AM
broadcasts
can
be
received.
TUNING
UP/DOWN
Buttons
These
buttons
are
used
to
tune
to
broadcasts
in
the
AUTO
and
MANUAL
tuning
modes.
If
either
button
is
pressed
momentarily
and
then
released,
the
frequency
will
change
up
or
down.
LOUDNESS
Switch
This
switch
compensates
for
the
non-
linear
response
of
the
human
ear
at
low
volumes.
This
switch should
be
out
when
listening
at
a
normal
volume.
REAR
PANEL

AM
Loop
Antenna
AC
OUTLET
(SWITCHED)
Power
supplied
from
these
outlets
will
be
turned
ON
and
OFF
when
the
POWER
switch
on
the
front
panel
is
switched
ON
and
OFF.
The
total
power
consumption
of
the
components
connected
to
these
AC
outlets
should
not
exceed
100
watts
or
1A.

FM
ANTENNA
Terminals

GND
Terminal
Connect
the
ground
lead
of
the
turntable
to
this
terminal.
@
PHONO
Input
Jacks
Connect
a
turntable
with
a
moving
magnet
(MM)
cartridge
to
these
jacks.
If
hum
occurs
when
playing
records,
the
turntable
is
incorrectly
grounded.
In
such
a
Case,
connect
the
ground
lead
of
the
turntable
to
the
GND
terminal.
