4. Almost everything is now ready to start
recording. If you have headphones, plug
them into the PHONES jack @ and use
them to monitor the signal. If you don't, be
sure your amplifier is in the tape monitoring
mode otherwise you will merely hear the
program (source) direct and cannot be sure
the deck is working.
Press the POWER switch. The VU Meters
@ , tape counter and a red LED (Light
Emitting Diode) should light up. The red
LED should flash and it indicates that the
deck is in the record stand-by mode. That
means it is ready to record but is not actual-
ly doing so.
Gradually turn up the LINE control until
the needles on the VU meters indicate
approximately
0,
(ox)
For more specific advice on how to use the
VU meters, see page 38.
Turn up the OUTPUT control until a com-
fortable listening level over the headphones
or amplifier/speaker system is achieved, or
set to the CAL position.
Simultaneously press both the play kay
({ >) and the REC key.
When you do that, the reels should start to
turn, the tape counter to count and the red
LED should stop flashing and stay on to
indicate that the deck is in the record mode.
If you now press and release the MONITOR
switch(es) to the TAPE ( 0) position you
should hear the same program, perhaps very
slightly degraded in quality if any of the
settings are not quite right. What you are
hearing now is the recorded sound, moni-
tored off-the-tape. After you have recorded
enough of the program to satisfy your
curiosity, press the fast rewind (<4) key to
fast-wind the tape back to the beginning
again. (ox)
You have now made a recording and are
ready to replay it. The process is almost
identical to recording except for a couple
of small points.

4. Presque tout est prét pour commencer
\enregistrement. Si vous possédez un casque
d’écoute, raccordez-le 4 la prise PHONES
@ et utilisez-le pour contrdler le signal. Si
vous n’en avez pas, s‘assurer que votre am-
plificateur est bien placé en fonction du con-
trdle d’écoute car sinon vous n‘entendrez
que le son direct de la source et il vous sera
impossible de savoir si votre platine fonc-
tionne.
Enfoncez la touche POWER, Les VU-métres
®, \e compteur de bande, ainsi qu'une
diode électroluminescente rouge devront
s‘allumer, La diode électroluminescente
rouge devra clignoter et indiquer ainsi que
la platine est en mode d’attente d'enregistre-
ment. Cela signifie qu’elle est préte a en-
registrer mais qu’elle n'est pas encore en
train d’effectuer un enregistrement.
Tournez graduellement la commande LINE
jusqu’a ce que les aiguilles des VU-métres
indiquent approximativement 0.

Tournez la commande OUTPUT jusqu’a ce
que vous obteniez le niveau d’écoute désiré
par
le
casque
d’écoute
ou
par
les
enceintes,
ou mettez a la position CAL.
Enfoncez simultanément la touche de repro.
duction ( > ) avec la touche d’enregistrement
(REC).

Lorsque vous faites ceci, les bobines devront
commencer 4 tourner, le compteur de bande
4 compter et la diode électroluminescente
rouge devra s’arréter de clignoter et elle
restera allumée pour indiquer que la platine
est en mode d’enregistrement. Si maintenant,
vous enclenchez et déclenchez les commuta-
teurs MONITOR 4 la position TAPE ( O)
vous devrez entendre le méme programme,
peut étre légérement dégradé en qualité si un
des réglages n'est pas parfaitement exact. Ce
que vous entendez maintenant, c'est le son
enregistré sur la bande. Dés que vous avez
suffisamment enregistré le programme pour
satisfaire votre curiosité, enfoncez la touche
de rembobinage rapide (<4) afin de rembo-
biner rapidement la bande au début. oO
Vous venez de terminer un enregistrement
et vous étes maintenant prét a le reproduire.
Le procédé est presque identique 4 celui
de |’enregistrement sauf quelques points
différents.
Comment reproduire une bande enregistrée
Suivez les mémes explications que pour
Venregistrement, a l’exception de:
La commande LINE qui n’a pas besoin
d’étre tournée et qui peut étre laissée a la
position MIN (()).
