‘stereo’
and
‘‘monaural”’.

Use
in
this
position
when
reception
of
FM
broadcast
is
affected
by
frequent
noises
(in
areas
where
field
strength
is
low,
for
example,
in
mountainous
regions
or
“valley”
in
tall
buildings).

noises

reduced

a
large
extent.
Since
the
inter-station
noises
are
not
removed

this
position,
select

stations
with
the
volume
turned
low.

pushbutton
This
pushbutton
is
effective
only
for
FM
stereo
reception.
This
button,
when
pushed,
blends
an
exact
measure
of
the
high
frequency
tones
of
the
left
and
right
audio
channels
to
eliminate
annoying
background
noise
and
hiss
from
very
weak
stereo
stations.

center-tuning
meter
For
FM
broadcasts,
tune
approximately
by
referring
to
the
signal-strength
meter®.
Pinpoint
the
best,
least
distorted
position
with
the
FM
center-tuning
meter.
The
needle
of
the
meter
is
in
the
center
if
no
broadcast
is
being
received.
During
tuning,
the
needle
fluctuates
to
the
left
and
right.
When
the
station
is
locked
in,
the
needle
returns
to
the
center.
If
the
tuning
control@®
is
re-adjusted,
the
needle
will
fluctuate
again
to
the
left
and
right,
and
when
the
broadcast
is
completely
detuned,
the
needle
returns
to
the
center.
