tackle. Prevent legs from
collapsing by driving stakes into
the ground and nailing legs to
stakes.

c. Two homemade pipe clamps.
Make each pipe clamp from two
pieces of 2x4, 12” long. Drill two
bolt holes to take 1/2” bolts or
threaded rod. Notch for pipe; do
not notch more than 1/2” deep
(See Figure 8).
4. Place one clamp around pipe and
lift, using a rope sling and block
and tackle. As pipe coupling comes
up above well head, attach second
pipe clamp to the pipe at the well
top BELOW the coupling. Unscrew
upper pipe length from coupling.
IMPORTANT: Pump is hanging on
coupling; to be sure pump does not
slip back down into well, be sure
coupling does not come off with upper
pipe.
PUMP INSTALLATION
1. Lay the pump a foot or two from
the well, with pump discharge
away from the well.
2. Lay out plastic pipe, safety rope,
hose clamps, tape, and wire cable.
3. Assemble all components
horizontally on the ground; lower
them into well after assembly.
a. Install plastic pipe adapter in the
pump discharge tapping, using
pipe joint compound or teflon
tape.
