How to troubleshoot Tektronix Test Equipment when the inverter won't start?
    • G
      Gail ReedJul 27, 2025
If the 051824 is not blinking, check for an open line fuse or other malfunction. Check for a blinking neon oscillator 051824 on the Inverter board. Check the '0' start pulse with an AC-coupled probe at TP 1835. Check Q1900 and Q1902 for shorts.

The overvoltage stop circuit may be stopping the inverter when the connector is out. Check comb connector 'A' for proper installation. Also, check the power from T1848 reaching U1910 Pin 6 (+7.5V) and Pin 7 (-2V). Finally, check secondary voltages for overvoltage.

How to fix no intensity control or poor focus control on Tektronix Test Equipment?
    • J
      James MaynardAug 4, 2025
If the diodes check out okay, compare the circuit waveforms to those given in Fig. 4-2. Check the DC restorer diodes in the CAT circuit. Check for proper levels at outputs of the Z Axis and Auto Focus circuits.

Why is there excessive ripple on semi-regulated supplies in my Tektronix Test Equipment?
    • J
      Jason CoxAug 9, 2025
Due to the symmetry of operation, an open rectifier on one supply will cause ripple on all supplies. Look for an open rectifier diode and compare the ripple frequency on the input capacitor of each semi-regulated supply.

What causes Tektronix Test Equipment inverter to start and then shut off at a slow rate?

If the BAL T.P. is more positive than +200 mV, it means there is a short on the negative supply or overcurrent in the H.V. winding of T1960. If the BAL T.P. is more negative than -200mV, it means there is a short on the positive supply or high beam current. Check Balance Node TP1951 during the 20 ms 'sampling period'.

How do I troubleshoot no high voltage on Tektronix Test Equipment?
    • C
      Christina SchaeferAug 17, 2025
Check Cathode Multiplier and Anode Multiplier circuits. The Transformer board can be removed by first removing the Power board and Inverter board, disconnect Line Cord and wait five minutes for Line Storage capacitors to discharge before removing Inverter board.

What should I do if line '0' opens when the power is turned on in my Tektronix Test Equipment?

If the line selector is correct, check the semiconductors on the Inverter board with the line cord disconnected and all capacitors completely discharged. Check the line selector switch for the correct position.
