given.
2.PropellerRPMFluctuations
A.Symptoms:
(1)Huntingisacyclicorconstantvariationofenginespeed,aboveandbelowthatdesired.Itwill

(2)Surgingisawideorexcessiveincreaseordecreaseinenginespeedfollowedbyreturntothe

(3)Surgingwilloccurandshouldbeconsiderednormaliflever/throttleismovedrapidly.
B.PossibleCauses:
(1)Huntingisseldom,ifever,causedbythepropelleritself.Thoseconditionsreportedprimarily
havebeencausedbyotherpartsofthesystemsuchasgovernor,fuelcontrol,etc.
(a)Forpistonengineinstallations,thepropellercanbetestedinightbyreducingthemanifold
pressure.ThepropellercontrolshouldbeinthefullRPMpositionandthemanifoldpressure
shouldbereduceduntiltheRPMdropsslightly.Thisensuresthatthepropellerisagainst
