B.Itishighlyrecommendedthatthisprocedurebeperformedfollowingstaticbalancing.Allofthe
proceduresandguidelineslistedbelowshouldbeusedinconjunctionwiththedynamicbalance
equipmentmanufacturer'sinstructions.
(1)Performdynamicbalanceaccordingtobalanceequipmentmanufacturer'sinstructions.
(2)Iftheinitialreadingisover0.8ips,McCauleyrecommendsthefollowingshouldbechecked/
corrected:
(a)Shimmingofthespinnershell.
(b)Propellerinstallation(properlytorquedandinstalledatagainstthemountingange).
NOTE:Iftheshimmingofthespinnershellandpropellerinstallationarefoundtobe
acceptablebuttheinitialreadingisstillover0.8ips,werecommendthepropeller
betakentoanFAAapprovedPart145PropellerRepairStationorinternational
equivalentforinspection.
(3)Iftheinitialreadingisunder0.8ips,continuethedynamicbalanceinaccordancewiththebalance
equipmentmanufacturer'sinstructions.
CAUTION:Atnotimearestaticbalanceweightstobemovedtoadjustdynamic
balance.
(4)Ifthetestindicatestheadditionofweightsisrequired,addweight(screwandwasher(s)toone
ofsixplacesontheaftsideofthespinnerbulkheadatthelocationclosesttotheareaindicated
bythetestingequipment.
(a)AnAN970-3washerweight=0.144ounceseach(4.1grams)plusscrew(AN502-10-X)
NOTE:Ifaccesstotheaftsideofthespinnerbulkheadisdifcult,itispermissibleto
temporarilyremoveapropellerspinnermountingscrewandplacetheindicated
massofbalancewashersatthelocationindicatedbythetestingequipment.
(5)Repeatthedynamicbalanceuntilthecorrectbalancelevel(approximately0.07ipsorlower)is
achieved.
NOTE:Mostdynamicbalanceequipmentmanufacturersspecify0.15-0.2ipsasbeingan
acceptablelevel.McCauleyPropellerSystemsagreesthat0.15-0.2isanacceptable
level,butourexperiencehasshownthat0.07ipsorlowerisnoticeablysmoother.
(6)Whendynamicbalanceissatisfactory:
(a)Removebalancewashersandscrewfromthespinnerattachscrewhole.
(b)Permanentlymountthebalancewashersandscrewstothespinnerbulkheadassemblyat
apointadjacenttothetestlocationasshownonFigure201.
(7)Ifapplicable,returnoriginalspinnerscrewtohole.
4.SpinnerRepairandChromePlating
A.NorepairispermittedonanyMcCauleyspinner,spinnerfrontsupport,orspinnerbulkhead.Follow
theseguidelinestodetermineifapartisairworthy:
(1)Iftheparthasscratchesandminordents,thepartcancontinuetobeused.
(2)Ifthepartiscracked,thepartmustbereplaced.
