(1)Checktheelectricalresistancebetweenthebootleads.RefertoT able202,DeiceBoot
ResistanceValuesfortheresistancevaluesofthebootinstalled.
(2)Checkforintermittentopencircuitsbytensioningthedeicebootleadsand/orstrapslightlywhile
measuringresistance.Also,presslightlyontheentiredeicebootheatingelementsurfaceand
intheareaadjacenttoleads.Resistancemustnotuctuate.Thischeckisimportantbecause
anintermittentopencircuitmaynotshowupuntilthepropellerisrotating.
7.LeadStrapInstallation
A.InstallingLeadStraps(IntegralLeadTypeBoot)
(1)Routeleadstrapstakingcarenottotwistthestrap.Theleadstrapsshouldbeclampedtothe
spinnerbulkheadwithclampsprovided.Allexcessstraplengthshouldfallbetweenthisclamp
andthedeiceboot.Arubbergrommetistobeusedwhenroutingthestrapthroughthespinner
bulkhead.Attachleadstothecorrespondingslipringstudswithnutsandwashersprovided.
NOTE:Leadsfortheleadstrapsaremarkedforattachmenttotheslipringstuds.Referto
theairplaneserviceormaintenancemanualforinstructionstoattachthedeiceboot
leadstrapstotheslipringassembly.
(2)Afterinstallationoftheleadstrapsiscomplete,makesurethatthelengthissufcientsoasnot
tobeplacedintensionwhenthepropellerismovedthroughfullpitchrange.
CAUTION:Donotrunengineswithspinnerdomeremoved;damagewillresult
tothewiringharnessesorleadstrapsduetothecentrifugalforce.
