(c)Scrapesthataffectareasinexcessof6.0squareinchesorhavedamagethatextendsinto
theunderlyingberglassfabricandthedamageisgreaterthan0.005inchdeep.Dothe
following:
1AscarfrepairshallbeaccomplishedbyanapprovedMcCauleycompositepropeller
overhaulfacilitybeforenextight.
(5)Cracks(excludingtheleadingedgeguard).Pilot,operator,oraircraftmechanicassessment
duringvisualinspection.Apropellerbladethatissuspectedtohaveacrackmustbetaken
toanapprovedMcCauleycompositepropelleroverhaulfacilitytoconrmtheconditionofthe
propeller.
(a)Crack(s)intheepoxymaterialthatdonotextendintotheunderlyingberglassmaybe
repairedusingacosmeticsurfacerepair.
(b)Crack(s)thatareconnedtotheberglasslayersofthepropellermayberepairedusing
ascarfrepair.
(c)Crack(s)thatextendpasttheberglasslayersofthepropellerandintothecarbonber
layersofthepropeller,thepropellermustberemovedfromserviceandscrapped.
(6)LeadingEdgeGuardandLaminateCoinTapT ests.Pilot,operator,oraircraftmechanic
assessmentforinitialtest.Ifadelaminationissuspected,thepropellermustbetakento
anapprovedMcCauleycompositepropelleroverhaulfacilitytoconrmthedelamination
condition.RefertoGuardandLaminateTapT ests(CoinTapInspection)forCoinT apInspection
Procedures.
(a)LeadingEdgeGuardDelaminatedLessthan0.5SquareInch.Repairleadingedge
guardorreplaceleadingedgeguard.Thisrepairwillrequirespecializedtoolsand
trainingtoaccomplish.Thepropellerleadingedgeguardrepairorreplacementmust
beaccomplishedbyanFAAapprovedPart145PropellerRepairStationorinternational
equivalentbypersonneltrainedtorepairMcCauleycompositepropellercomponentsor
thepropellermustberemovedfromserviceandscrapped.
(b)LeadingEdgeGuardDelaminated0.5SquareInchormore.Donotoperatethepropeller
withaleadingedgeguardthathas0.5squareinchormoreareaofdebond.Replacethe
leadingedgeguard.Thisrepairwillrequirespecializedtoolsandtrainingtoaccomplish.
PropellerleadingedgeguardreplacementmustbeaccomplishedbyanFAAapproved
Part145PropellerRepairStationorinternationalequivalentbypersonneltrainedtorepair
McCauleycompositepropellercomponentsorthepropellermustberemovedfromservice
andscrapped.
(7)Delamination(excludingtheleadingedgeguard).
(a)Thisisaconditionthatwillrequirespecializedtoolsandtrainingtodeterminetheextentof
delamination.Propellerbladesthataresuspectedtohavedelaminatedmaterialmustbe
takentoanFAAapprovedpropellerrepairstationorinternationalequivalentfacility.The
FAAapprovedpropellerrepairstationorinternationalequivalentshallcontactMcCauley
ProductSupporttohelpdetermineifthepropellerbladeisrepairableormustberemoved
fromserviceandscrapped.
(8)PropellerTiporTrailingEdgeAreaDamage(damagethatisnotanick,gouge,orscrape).
NOTE:Epoxypiecesmaystillbeattachedtothecomposite(berglassorcarbonber)fabric.
(a)Thisisaconditionthatwillrequirespecializedtoolsandtrainingtodeterminetheextent
ofdamage.Propellerbladesthathavesustainedthistypeofimpactdamagemustbe
takentoanFAAapprovedpropellerrepairstationorinternationalequivalentfacility.The
FAAapprovedpropellerrepairstationorinternationalequivalentshallcontactMcCauley
ProductSupporttohelpdetermineifthepropellerbladeisrepairableormustberemoved
fromserviceandscrapped.
(9)ExposedBladeCoreFoam.Ifthepropellerbladecorefoamisvisiblethepropellermustbe
removedfromserviceandscrapped.
(10)NotableVibrations.Pilot,operator,oraircraftmechanicassessmentforunusualvibration,
ifunusualvibrationissuspected,thepropellermustbetakentoanFAAapprovedpropeller
repairstationorinternationalequivalentfacilityforadditionalteststoconrmtheconditionof
thepropeller.
