PRE-START INSTRUCTIONS section 3.1
BEFORE STARTING:
1. READ SAFETY DE CALS
2. Check en gine and transaxle oil lev els.
3. Check cool ant level.(Kubota)
4. Vi sually check tires.
5. Vi sually check for loose or miss ing parts or bolts.
6. Fill with clean fuel.
STARTING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Safety switch re quires PTO to be OFF for en gine to
start.
2. Open throt tle ap prox i mately one-fourth of its travel.
3. Turn key coun ter-clock wise to “pre heat” un til in di -
ca tor light goes off. (die sel only). No pre heat is re -
quired when en gine is warm.
Pull choke on gas o line en gine.
4. Turn key to start en gine.
5. Warm up en gine at me dium speed. Push choke in on
gas o line en gine as en gine warms up.
6. In cold weather, al low the hy drau lic oil to warm up a
few min utes at me dium en gine speed be fore us ing
trac tor.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR FUELS AND OILS
ENGINE OIL (Kubota engines)
Fill the crank case with oil that meets API ser vice
des ig na tion CC or CD for die sel en gines and SF for gas -
o line en gines. Do not mix brands or grades of oil. Rec -
om mended weights for ex pected tem per a tures are:
Above 77 F.(25 C.)..........SAE 30
32 F.-77 F.(0 C.-25 C.).....SAE 20 or 10W-30
Be low 77 F.(0 C.)..SAE 10W or 10W-30
ENGINE OIL (Onan)
Fill the crank case with oil that meets API ser vice
des ig na tion SE or SE/CC. Do not mix brands or grades
of oil. Rec om mended weights for ex pected tem per a -
tures are:
Above 32 F.(0 C.)..........SAE 30
Be low 32 F.(0 C.)..........SAE 5W-30
COOLANT (Kubota)
Fill cool ant sys tem with a mix ture of 1 part Per ma -
nent Anti-freeze and 1 part wa ter.
FUEL
On gas o line en gines, use clean, fresh, reg u lar or un -
leaded fuel. Use of un leaded fuel re sults in less main te -
nance.
On die sel en gines, use clean, fresh, No. #2 die sel
fuel. In ex treme cold tem per a tures No. #1 die sel fuel
may be used. Do not use ker o sene or dam age to en -
gine may re sult. Re fer to en gine man ual for fuel bleed -
ing in struc tions.
TRANSAXLE HYDRAULIC OIL
Fill transaxle to the safe range with Steiner
Trans-Hy drau lic Oil or Texas Re fin ery Corp. 6440 Uni -
ver sal Torque Fluid only. Do not use au to matic trans -
mis sion fluid, mo tor oil, or any other type of hy drau lic
oil.
NOTE: THE USE OF ANY OIL OTHER
THAN STEINER AP PROVED OIL MAY VOID
WAR RANTY AND IS NOT REC OM MENDED.
