Anti-skating force
The interaction of stylus friction and cartridge bearing
forces produces a force which pulls the tonearm towards
the centre of the record (referred to as skating force). This
force can be offset with the help of anti-skating force,
which, in the case of the TP 41 tonearm, is produced by
an anti-skating weight.
Hook the anti-skating weight to the notched bar (Fig. 5.1)
and lead it through the wire hanger.
The anti-skating force will vary depending on which of the
three notches (Fig 5.2) the anti-skating weight is hooked
to. The correct anti-skating weight depends on the vertical
tracking force that has been set. Use:
notch 1
notch 2
notch 3
for tracking forces between 10 and 15 mN
for tracking forces between 15 and 20 mN
for tracking forces exceeding 20 mN
