Emergency Conditions
IMPORTANT
Gauges and t ell-tole lamps ore provided so that the op er ator
con obse r ve the operation and condition of various components and
equipment. If abnormal condit i ons are indicated, TAKE ACTION AT
ONCE to locate and correct the cause before serious damage can
occu r. DO NOT IGNORE warnings of abnorma l operating cond-
ition s. Duri ng operation , regularly check all gouges and tell-tale
lamps.
Engine Alarm System
The engine is equipped with an alarm system to worn the operator
of o bnormol conditions. Such conditions ore indicated by te ll-tole lights
on the insirument panel os well os o buzzer or beeper ,n the front
juncti
on box ( See "Alarm System" earlie r in this monuol for o complete
listing.) Some coaches hove on au t omatic shutdown system in ter-
connected with the engine olorm system to shu t off t he eng i ne in cose of
oil pressure d rap, obnormol tem peroture rise, or low coolan t leve l. This
feature prevents domoge to the cooch engine if ony of th ese obnormo l
conditions arise .
The
oction of the o!Jfflmotic shu td own contro ls con be overruled in
order to move t he coach to o safe l oca tion by use of the "ST ARTER-
OVERRULE SWITCH" on the driver's ins tr ument panel. If eng i ne is shut
off ou t omo ticolly, turn " MASTER " swit ch to " OFF" position-momentar ily
ond switch on ogo in. Depress " STARTER-OVERRULE SW IT CH " or, ii key
switch.

Under no circumstances should the eng i ne be operated longerthon
abso l utely necessary ofter the eng i ne hos been st opped by automati c
shutdown controls.

Engine Oil Pressure
Eng ine oil pressure gouge is mounted on inst rument panel in front of
operator. Normal readings at operating temperature ore 50-70 P.S.I
(345-483 kPo) ot 1 800 R.P.M.
If during operation the engine o il pressure drops below a sole level,
the " LOW Oil " tell-tole light on the driver's instrumen t panel will goon ,
ond the warning buzzer will sound. If 1he coach is equ ipped with
automatic shut -off controls, these controls will stop t he engine. The
automatic shut-off system con be overruled to move the coach to safety .

Engine
Temperature
A gouge mo rked "WATER TEMP " is located on the instrument
panel to i nd ic ate eng i ne temperature . The most eft ,cient engine
temperature range is 170 °- 195° F (77° -91 ° CJ. If poss ible, ovo,d going
to full thro ttle until engine coolant tempe rature reaches 140° F ( 60°C ).
T he eng ine will come up to normal operating temperature shortly ofter
you start driving.
If engine becomes overhea t ed during operation, the olorm buzzer
will sound and the "HOT ENG." te ll -tole will flas h. If coach is equipped
with outomot ic shut - off system, t ~ofety con tr ol relay will stop the
engine . T he outomo t ic shut-off system con be overruled if necessary to
move the coach to safety as out li ned under " ENGINE AL ARM SYSTEM ."
