Engine Operation
Cont rols nece ssory to stort ond stop engine from the operolor\
comportme n1 ore mounted on the ins1r umen ! pane l in front of driver .
These controls
ore :
"
MAS T ER " switch: must be in the "O N" position when sto rt ing
engine. When switch is pushed " OF F" the engine wi ll stop.
" STAR
TER " switch: is of !he " momentary-o n" type , and must be he ld
1n the depressed posit ion to engage t he slorter . When releosed , switch
will retu
rn lo normol position.
" EM ERGENCY STOP" switch:
1s of the " momentary-on " type used to
slop engine if it foils to do so when the " MASTER" switch is moved to the
"OF F" posit ion . The switch mus! be push ed up to ope r ate the emergency
stop mechon ism.
"E N GI NE OVE R RU LE" is ob t ained by holding the " ST ARTE R" switch
in the depressed posit ion (on cooches equipp ed with ou tom otic engi ne
shu
td own sys tem ). Switch shou ld be he ld on long enough to move coocn

GAUGES AND TELL- T ALE LAMPS" O il pressure ond 1 emperoture
gouges , toge!h er wit h "LOW Oil " ond " HO T ENG " tell-1ole lamps . ore

" HO T ENG ." or "L OW Oil " tell-role flashes.

St arting Engine
CAUTION :
Special precautions are necessary with turbo-charged engines
to avoid possible turbi ne damage . A fter starl i ng , run it al low idle

for two minutes to permit lubricant to flow to the turbocharger.
Then
run it at fast idle and check oil pressure before attempting ro
dr ive the veh icle.
Before
shutt i ng the eng ine down . allow it to i dle for 5 m in ute s.
This w i ll ens ure that the turbi ne speed ha s dropped. DO NOT SHUT
THE
ENGINE DOWN DI RECTLY FROM HIGH RPM.
1. Mo ke sure th at the pa rk ing broke control button is pulled up.

2.
Make sure !he remote control swi1ch in rea r panel 1s set for front
operation . T ronsmission shift lever should be in neut ral position
3. Place "MAST ER " switch in t he "O N" posi1ion.
4. Press "S tar!" button to engage st arter . Hold button for 3 seconds
after engine si oru to al l ow oil pressure build-up pr eventing outomo1ic
shutdown .
5. Reier 10 " EMERGEN CY CONDITIONS" for ins tr uctions regarding
starhng engine ot rear of coach.
CAUTION :
Do not e ngage starter fo r longer tha n 15 se cond s at a ti me .
Allow start er moto r to cool before a second attempt . Cont i nuous use
of th e starte r without allowing a cooli ng per i od may damage t he
starter motor .
Thermal Time Delay
(Optional)
A T hermal Time Delay Relay system ,s available . Th is system pro-
tects the starter motor from fa l se restart or overrun . ll provides a 20-
second timed start per i od followed by a few seconds coo li ng period
before starter can be r eengaged.
