StartingandStoppingthe
Engine
Important:Youmustbleedthefuelsystembefore
startingtheengineifyouarestartingtheengine
forthersttime,theenginehasstoppeddueto
lackoffuel,oryouhaveperformedmaintenanceon
thefuelsystem;refertoBleedingtheFuelSystem.
StartingtheEngine
1.Sitontheseat,keepyourfootoffofthetraction
pedalsothatitisinNeutral,engagetheparking
brake,setthethrottletotheFastposition,and
ensurethattheEnable/Disableswitchisinthe
Disableposition.
2.TurntheignitionswitchtotheOn/Preheatposition.
Anautomatictimerwillcontroltheglowplug
preheatfor6seconds.
3.Afterpreheatingtheglowplugs,turnkeytothe
Startposition.
Cranktheenginefornolongerthan15seconds.
Releasethekeywhentheenginestarts.Ifadditional
preheatingisrequired,turnkeytotheOffposition
andthentotheOn/Preheatposition.Repeatthis
processasrequired.
4.Runtheengineatlowidlespeeduntilitwarmsup.
StoppingtheEngine
1.MoveallcontrolstoNeutral,settheparkingbrake,
movethethrottletothelowidlepositionandallow
theenginetoreachlowidlespeed.
Important:Allowtheenginetoidlefor5
minutesbeforeshuttingitoffafterafullload
operation.Failuretodosomayleadtotrouble
onaturbo-chargedengine.
2.TurnthekeytotheOffpositionandremoveit
fromtheswitch.
SettingtheReelSpeed
Toachieveaconsistent,highquality-of-cutanda
uniformaftercutappearance,itisimportantthatyou
setthereelspeedcontrols(locatedundertheseat)
correctly.Adjustthereelspeedcontrolsasfollows:
1.Selecttheheight-of-cutatwhichthecuttingunits
areset.
2.Choosethedesiredgroundspeedbestsuitedfor
conditions.
3.Usingtheappropriategraphondecal110–0996
(Figure39)forReelmaster5510&5610,7inch
reelcuttingunitsordecal110–8923(Figure40)for
Reelmaster5210&5410,5inchreelcuttingunits
determinetheproperreelspeedsetting.
Tosetthereelspeed,rotateknobs(Figure38)until
theindicatorarrowsareinlinewiththenumber
designatingthedesiredsetting.
