Adjusttheservicebrakeswhenthereismorethan1inch
offreetravelofthebrakepedal,orwhenthebrakesdo
notworkeffectively.Freetravelisthedistancethebrake
pedalmovesbeforeyoufeelbrakingresistance.
1.Toreducefreetravelofthebrakepedals,tightenthe
brakesbylooseningthefrontnutonthethreaded
endofthebrakecable(Figure74).

untilbrakepedalshave1/4to1/2inch(.63to
1.27cm)offreetravel.
3.Tightenthefrontnuts,ensuringthatbothcables
actuatethebrakessimultaneously.
4.Toincreasebrakepedaltravel,movethebrake
cablestotheuppersetofholesinthebrakepedal
mechanism.Checkadjustmentandrepeatprocedure
ifadditionaladjustmentisrequired.
AdjustingtheParkingBrake
Iftheparkingbrakefailstoengage,anadjustmentto
thebrakepawlisrequired.
1.Removethecotterpinsandclevispinssecuringthe
brakecablestothebrakepedalrod(Figure75).

7.Securethebrakecablestothebrakepedalwiththe
cotterpinsandclevispinsremoved.
