Eachdaybeforeoperatingthemachine,checkthe
reel-to-bedknifecontact,regardlessifthequalityofcut
hadpreviouslybeenacceptable.Theremustbelight
contactacrossthefulllengthofthereelandbedknife;
refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
Beforecheckingthereels,disconnectthecutting
unitpowerdisconnectcouplers;refertoCuttingUnit
PowerDisconnectConnectors(page23).Connect
themwhennished.
BacklappingtheReels
WARNING
Contactwiththereelsorothermovingparts
canresultinpersonalinjury.
•Keepyourngers,hands,andclothing
awayfromthereelsorothermovingparts.
•Neverattempttoturnthereelsbyhandor
footwhiletheengineisrunning.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,shutofftheengine,removethe
key,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Removetheplasticcovertotheleftsideofthe
seat.
3.Makeinitialreel-to-bedknifeadjustments
appropriateforbacklappingonallcuttingunits
thatyouwanttobacklap;refertothecuttingunit
Operator’sManual.
4.Starttheengineandrunatlowidlespeed.Ifthe
enginestalls,increasetheenginespeed.
5.OntheInfoCentercontrol,fromtheSERVICE
menu,selectBACKLAP.
6.SetBACKLAPtoON.
7.PulluptheMainMenuandscrolldownto
Settings.
8.IntheSETTINGSmenuscrolldowntoBACKLAP
RPMandusethe±buttontoselectthedesired
backlapspeed.
9.WiththefunctionalcontrolleverintheNEUTRAL
position,movetheRaise/LowerMowcontrol
forwardtostartthebacklappingoperationonthe
designatedreels.
10.Applylappingcompoundwithalong-handled
brush.Neveruseashort-handledbrush.
11.Ifthereelsstallorbecomeerraticwhile
backlapping,selectahigherreelspeedsetting
untilthespeedstabilizes.
12.Tomakeanadjustmenttothecuttingunitswhile
backlapping,turnthereelsoffbymovingthe
Raise/LowerMowcontrolrearwardandshut
offtheengine.Aftercompletingadjustments,
repeatsteps4through10.
13.Repeattheprocedureforallcuttingunitsthat
youwanttobacklap.
14.Whennished,returntheInfoCenterBACKLAP
settingtoOFForturntheignitionkeytotheOFF
positiontoreturnthemachinetoforwardcutting
operation.
15.Washalllappingcompoundoffofthecutting
units.Adjustthecuttingunitreeltobedknifeas
needed.Movethecutting-unitreelspeedcontrol
tothedesiredmowingposition.
