ofproduction.However,improperuseormaintenancebythe
operatororownercanresultininjury.Toreducethepotential
forinjury,complywiththesesafetyinstructionsandalwayspay
attentiontothesafetyalertsymbolwhichmeansCAUTION,
WARNINGorDANGER“personalsafetyinstruction.”Failure
tocomplywiththeinstructionmayresultinpersonalinjury.

SafeOperatingPractices
Thisproductiscapableofamputatinghandsandfeetandofthrowing
objects.Alwaysfollowallsafetyinstructionstoavoidseriousinjury
ordeath.
Thismowerisdesignedforcuttingandmulchinggrassor,when
equippedwithagrassbag,forcatchingcutgrass.Anyuseforpurposes
otherthanthesecouldprovedangeroustouserorbystanders.
GeneralOperation
Readthismanualcarefullybeforeoperatingthemower.Become
familiarwiththecontrolsandproperuseofthemower.Neverallow
childrenunder16yearsofagetooperatethemower.Neverallow
adultstooperatemowerwithoutproperinstructions.
Theoperatorofthemowerisresponsibleforkeepingeveryone,
especiallychildrenandpets,awayfromareaofoperation.The
operatorisresponsibleforaccidentsorhazardsoccurringtoother
peopleortheirproperty.
Thoroughlyinspectareawheremowerwillbeusedandremove
sticks,stones,wire,anddebristhatcouldbepickedupandthrown
bymower.Watchforforeignobjectswhilemowing.Objectsstruck
bythelawnmowerbladecancausesevereinjuriestopersons.
Wearlongpantsandsubstantialshoes.Donotoperatemower
whilewearingopen-toedshoes,jewelry,looseclothingorwhen
barefoot.Useofrubberglovesandfootwearisrecommended
whenworkingoutdoors.
Keepallguards,shields,safetydevices,grasscatcheroroptional
sidedischargechuteinplace.Repairorreplacedamagedparts,
includingdecals.Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir
properoperationregularly.
Themotorandbladearedesignedtostopwithin3secondsafter
releasingthecontrolbail.Ensurethatthecontrolbailfunctions
properlybeforeeachuseofmower.Ifthebladedoesnotstop
within3seconds,orifthereisagrindingorscrapingmetal-to-metal
noisewhenthecontrolbailisreleased,contactanAuthorizedToro
ServiceDealerforproper“On/Off”andbladebrakeadjustment
orreplacement.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,blade
fastenersandcutterassemblyarenotwornordamaged.Replace
wornordamagedbladesandfastenersinsetstopreservebalance.
Onlyusethoseaccessoriesandattachmentsdesignedtobe
usedwiththisproduct.Useofanyaccessoryorattachmentnot
designedforthisproductmayincreasetheriskofinjury.See
instructionsforproperoperationandinstallationofaccessories.
WhileOperating
Donotinsertkeyintoplugreceptacleuntilyouarereadytomow.
Donotoperatemoweringaseous,explosiveatmospheres.Normal
sparkingofmotorcouldignitefumes.
Startthemotorcarefullyaccordingtoinstructionsandwithfeet
wellawayfromtheblade.
UseRightApplianceDonotusemowerforanyjobexceptthat
forwhichitisintended.
StayAlertWatchwhatyouaredoing.Donotoperatemower
whentiredorundertheinuenceofdrugs,alcoholormedication.
Bealertandturnmoweroffifchildrenenterthearea.
Useextracarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,or
otherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditches,orembankments.The
operatorcouldlosefootingorbalance.
Avoiddangerousenvironments.Neveroperatemowerinwet
grassordamplocations.Donotusemowerintherain.
Alwaysmaintainsecurefooting.Keeparmgriponthehandle
andwalk;neverrun.Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
Mowacrossthefaceofslopes;neverupanddown.Use
extremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.Donotmow
excessivelysteepslopes.Wearskidresistantshoesonslopes.
Don’tOverreachKeepproperfootingandbalanceatalltimes.
Donotforcethemower.Itoperatesbestandsafestattheratefor
whichitwasdesigned.
Alwayswearsafetyglassesoreyeshieldsduringoperationto
protecteyesfromforeignobjectsthatmaybethrownfromthe
machine.(Regulareyeglassesarenotsafetyglasses.)
Alwayswearanapproveddustmaskwhenusingunitindusty
conditions.
