1.CoatnewhydraulicttingO-ringslightlywithcleanhydraulicuid.Install
ttingswithnewO-ringstothetransmission.Orientatethettingsasnoted
duringdisassembly.
2.Ifpumplever(item18inFigure81)wasremoved,cleanpumpshaftand
applyLoctite#680RetainingCompound(orequivalent)topumpshaft.Slide
pumpleverontoshaftandsecurewithboltsandlocknuts.
3.Applynon-hardeninggasketsealanttobothsidesofgasket(item9inFigure
81).Positiongaskettofrontaxlegasketsurface.
4.Carefullypositiontransmissiontofrontaxletakingcarenottomoveor
damagegasket.Ensurethatthetransmissionandaxlegearsmeshproperly.
IMPORTANT
Duringassembly,ensurethattheupperleftbolt(item1inFigure81)
extendsthroughholeintransmissionanchor.
5.ApplyLoctite#242(orequivalent)tothreadsofbolts(items1and2inFigure
81).Securetransmissiontofrontaxlewithbolts,washers,andspacersusing
locationsnotedduringdisassembly.Tightenboltsinacrossingpattern.After
tightening,ensurethatmountingspacersdonotrotate.
6.Securetransmissiontoanchor(item12inFigure81)withlocknut.Retain
upperleftboltwhiletighteninglocknut.
7.Connectmachineharnesswirestoneutralswitch.
8.Slidetractionrod(item50inFigure81)topumpleverandsecurewithat
washerandcotterpin.
9.Checktransmissiondriveshaftalignmentandadjustifnecessary;referto
TransmissionDriveshaft(MachineSerialNumbersbelow316000000)(page
5–87).Installtransmissiondriveshaft.
10.On4-wheeldrivemachines,connect4-wheeldrivedriveshafttotransmission;
refertoInstallingtheRearAxleDriveshaft(4-WheelDrive)(page8–44).
11.Installhydraulichosestottingsontransmissioninpositionsnotedduring
disassembly.
12.Checkhydraulic-uidlevelinreservoir(frontaxle)andadjustasrequired;
refertotheTractionUnitOperator’sManual.
13.Operatethemachinefunctionsslowlyuntilairisoutofsystem;referto
ChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page5–85).
14.Checktractiondriveforneutralandneutralswitchadjustment;refertothe
TractionUnitOperator’sManual.
