RemovingtheBi-DirectionalClutch(4-WheelDrive)
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Drainoilfromthebi-directionalclutch;refertotheTractionUnitOperator’s
Manual.
3.Removethe6socket-headscrews(item10inFigure287)and6lock
washersthatsecurethedriveshafttothebi-directionalclutchontherear
axle.Positiontheendofthedriveshaftawayfromtheclutch.
4.Removethebolt(item8inFigure287),lockwasher,andatwasherthat
securetheclutchtotherearaxle.Locateandretrievethespacer.
5.Pullthebi-directionalclutchfromtherearaxleinputshaft.
InstallingtheBi-DirectionalClutch(4-WheelDrive)
1.Applyanti-seizelubricanttothesplinesoftherearaxleinputshaft.
2.Slidethebi-directionalclutchontotherearaxleinputshaft.Alignthenotches
intheclutchhousingwiththeboltheadsontheaxleclutchlocatoradapter.
3.ApplyLoctite#242(orequivalent)tothethreadsofthebolt(item8inFigure
287)thatsecurestheclutchtotherearaxleshaft.
4.Securetheclutchtotheaxleshaftwiththebolt,lockwasher,atwasher,
andspacer.
5.Positiontheendofthedriveshafttothebi-directionalclutchontherearaxle.
Securethedriveshafttotheclutchwiththe6socket-headscrews(item10
inFigure287)and6lockwashers.
