DisassemblingtheSteeringCylinder(4-WheelDrive)
1.Slowlypumpthecylindershafttoremovethehydraulicuidfromthesteering
cylinderintoadrainpan.Plugboththeportsandcleantheoutersurfaceof
thecylinder.
IMPORTANT
Whenyouclampthesteeringcylinderinavise,clampthepivotend
onlytopreventdamage.Donotclosetheviseonthebarrel.
2.Mountthesteeringcylindersecurelyinavisebyclampingonthepivotend
sothattheshaftendtiltsupslightly.Useaviseequippedwithsoftjaws.
3.Useaspannerwrenchtoloosenandremovetheinternalcollar(item6in
Figure101)fromthebarrel.
4.Holdtheendoftheshaftanduseatwistingandpullingmotiontocarefully
extracttheshaft,internalcollar,head,andpistonfromthebarrel.
IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttheshaftsurfacecoulddamagethe
shaft.Whensecuringtheshaftinavise,protecttheshaftsurface.
