CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page5–6).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Blockthewheelswithchockstopreventthemachinefrommoving.
3.ReadtheGeneralPrecautionsforRemovingandInstallingtheHydraulic
SystemComponents(page5–77).
4.Cleanthehydraulictubeendsandttingsonthehydraulicmotortoprevent
contaminantsfromenteringintothehydraulicsystem.
5.Forassemblypurposes,labelallthehydraulicconnectionsatthehydraulic
motor.
6.Loosenandremovethehydraulictubesfromthettingsonthehydraulic
motor.Allowthetubestodrainintoasuitablecontainer.
7.Installcleancapsorplugsonthehydraulictubesandttingstoprevent
systemcontamination.
8.On4-wheeldrivemachines,removetherearaxledriveshaft;referto
RemovingtheRearAxleDriveshaft(4-WheelDrive)(page8–43).
9.Removethe2ange-headscrews(item6inFigure90)thatsecurethe
hydraulicmotortothefrontaxle;removethemotorfromthemachine.
10.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ring(item8inFigure90)fromthemotor.
11.Ifthehydraulicttingsaretoberemovedfromthehydraulicmotor,mark
thettingorientationforassemblypurposes.Removethettingsfromthe
hydraulicmotoranddiscardtheO-ringsfromthettings.
InstallingtheFrontAxleDriveMotor
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthehydraulicmotor,lubricateand
installnewO-ringstothettings.T oproperlyalignandinstallthettingsinto
thehydraulicmotorports,usethemarksthatyoumadeduringtheremoval
process;refertoInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThread
O-RingFittingintotheComponentPort)(page5–11).
2.PositionthenewO-ring(item8inFigure90)tothehydraulicmotorandinstall
themotorintothefrontaxlewiththe2ange-headscrews.
3.On4-wheeldrivemachines,installtherearaxledriveshaft;refertoInstalling
theRearAxleDriveshaft(4-WheelDrive)(page8–44).
4.Removethecapsandplugsfromthehydraulictubesandttings.
5.LubricateandinstallnewO-ringstothettingsonthehydraulicmotor.Use
thelabelsthatyouattachedduringtheremovalprocesstocorrectlyconnect
thehydraulictubestothemotorttings;refertoInstallingtheHydraulicHose
andTube(O-RingFaceSealFitting)(page5–9).
6.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulicreservoir(frontaxle)andadd
correctquantityofuidifnecessary;refertotheOperator’sManual.
7.Operatethemachinefunctionsslowlyuntilairisoutofsystem;referto
ChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page5–85).
