IMPORTANT
Iftheoilpressureindicatorlightisilluminatedwiththeengine
running,shutofftheengineimmediately.Checktheindicatorlight,
circuitwiring,pressureswitch,andenginelubricationsystemto
identifythecauseoftheilluminatedindicatorlight.
TestingtheEngineOilPressureSwitch
Note:Refertoengineservicemanualforinformationregardingengine
lubricationsystemandtesting.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,settheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.TurnthekeyswitchtotheONposition.Theoilpressureindicatorlightonthe
controlpanelshouldbeilluminated.
3.Iftheindicatorlightisnotilluminated:
A.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
B.Locatetheengineoilpressureswitchontheengineanddisconnectthe
wireharnessconnectorfromtheswitch.
C.Connectamultimeter(ohmssetting)acrosstheswitchharnessconnector
terminalstocheckthecontinuityoftheswitch:
D.Withtheengineshutoff,thereshouldbenocontinuitybetweenthe
switchharnessterminals.
E.Withtheenginerunning,thereshouldbecontinuitybetweenthe
switchharnessterminals.
4.Ifthetestingdeterminesthattheoilpressureswitchisnotoperatingcorrectly,
checkthepressureswitchand/orpressureswitchharnessforcontinuity.
Repairorreplacethecomponentsasnecessary.
5.Iftheswitchtestingiscorrectandthecircuitproblemstillexists,checkthe
machinewireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicsandWireHarness
Drawings/DiagramsinAppendixA(pageA–1).
6.Afteryoucompletetheoilpressureswitchtesting,connectthewireharness
connectortotheoilpressureswitch.
7.Lowerthehoodandsecureitwiththelatches.
