5.Loosenthealternatorbolt,andmovetheupperalternatorbraceawayfrom
themufer.
6.Removetheexhaustmuferfromthemachine.
7.Removeanddiscardthegasket(item1inFigure24).
InstallingtheExhaustSystem
Note:Ensurethattheexhaustmuferangeandengineexhaustmanifold
sealingsurfacesarefreeofdebrisordamagethatmaypreventatightseal.
1.Placenewgasket(item1inFigure24)ontheengineexhaustmanifold.
IMPORTANT
Fingertightenallthefastenersbeforesecuringthemufertothe
mufermountsothereisnopreloadontheexhaustsystem.
2.Positiontheexhaustmuferandupperalternatorbracetotheengineexhaust
manifoldandlooselyinstallthe4angenuts(Figure24).
3.Withthemuferangetighttotheengineexhaustmanifold(nogapsvisible),
positionthemufersothatthemuferistightagainstthemufermount(no
gapsvisible).
4.Tightenthe4angenutstosecurethemuferangetotheexhaustmanifold.
5.Securetheexhaustmufertothemufermountwiththe2bolts(item7in
Figure24),4hardenedwashers,and2angenuts.
6.Lowerthehoodandsecureitwiththelatches.
