RemovingtheFrontAxle
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Removethecuttingdeck(orimplement);refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’s
Manual.
3.Cleanthehydrauliccomponentsandfrontaxletopreventcontamination.
4.Drainthehydraulicuidfromthehydraulicreservoir(frontaxle);referto
theOperator’sManual.
CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page5–6).
5.Removethe2ange-headscrews(item9inFigure212)thatsecuretheoil
ltertothelterbracket,andremovethestraightthreadtting(withtheoil
lter)fromthefrontaxle.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ringfromthetting.
6.Removetheliftarmsfromthemachine;refertoRemovingtheLiftArms
(page7–27).
7.Removethefueltank;refertoRemovingtheFuelT ank(page4–16).
8.Removethe2carrierbrackets(item20inFigure212)fromthemachine
frame.
9.Removethe2frontwheelsfromthefrontaxle;refertoRemovingtheWheel
(page7–4).
10.Removethehydraulicmotorfromthemachine;refertoRemovingtheFront
AxleDriveMotor(page5–108).

12.Putajackorblockingunderthefrontaxletopreventitfromfalling.Remove
the4bolts(item17inFigure212),4atwashers,and4locknutsthatsecure
theaxlemountingpadstotheframe.Retrieveandnotethelocationofthe
axleshims.
