Whenproperlytensioned,theinsidemeasurement
oftheextensionspring(hooktohook)shouldbe
approximately8.3to9.5cm(3-1/4to3-3/4inches).
Oncethecorrectspringtensionisattained,adjustthe
stopbolt(carriagebolt)untilthereisapproximately2
to5mm(0.065to0.185inch)clearancebetweenthe
headoftheboltandtheidlerarm(Figure76).
Note:Ensurethatthebeltispositionedonthespring
sideofthebeltguide(Figure76).

Theblade-drivebelt,tensionedbythespring-loaded
idlerpulley,isverydurable.However,aftermany
hoursofuse,thebeltwillshowsignsofwear.Signsof
awornbeltincludesquealingwhenthebeltisrotating,
bladesslippingwhencuttinggrass,frayededges,
burnmarks,andcracks.Replacethebeltifanyof
theseconditionsareevident.
1.Lowerthecuttingunittotheshopoor,remove
thebeltcoversfromthetopofthecuttingunit,
andsetthecoversaside.
2.Loosentheeyeboltallowingtheremovalofthe
extensionspring(Figure76).
3.Loosentheangenutsecuringthestopboltto
themountingtabandmovetheidlerpulleyaway
fromthebelttoreleasethebelttension(Figure
76).
Note:Loosenthenutenoughtoallowtheidler
armtopassthestopbolt.
Note:Ifthestopboltiseverremovedfromthe
mountingtab,makesurethatitisinstalledagain
intheholethatalignsthestop-boltheadwith
theidlerarm.
4.Removetheboltssecuringthehydraulicmotor
tothecuttingunit(Figure77).

unitafterroutingthebeltaroundthepulleys.
Mountthemotortothecuttingunitwiththebolts
previouslyremoved.
Note:Ensurethatthebeltispositionedonthe
springsideofthebeltguide(Figure76).
9.Connecttheextensionspring(Figure76)tothe
eyeboltandtensionthebeltasfollows:
Whenproperlytensioned,theinside
measurementoftheextensionspring(hook
tohook)shouldbeapproximately8.3to9.5
cm(3-1/4to3-3/4inches).
Whenyouattainthecorrectspringtension,
adjustthestopbolt(carriagebolt)untilthere
isapproximately2to5mm(0.065to0.185
inches)clearancebetweentheheadofthe
boltandtheidlerarm.
