Counterbalance
Thecounterbalancesystemmaintainshydraulic
backpressureonthedeck-liftcylinders.This
pressureimprovestractionbytransferringthe
mower-deckweighttothemower-drivewheels.The
counterbalancepressurehasbeensetatthefactory
toanoptimalbalanceofafter-cutappearanceand
tractioncapabilityinmostturfconditions.
Decreasingthecounterbalancesettingcanproducea
morestablecuttingunit,butcandecreasethetraction
capability.Increasingthecounterbalancesettingcan
increasethetractioncapability,butmayresultina
poorafter-cutappearance.Refertothemachine
ServiceManualforyourtractionunitforinstructionsto
adjustthecounterbalancepressure.
UsingtheBrakePedals
Important:Inemergencybrakingsituations,
removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandthen
pressthebrakepedals.
Inthelowspeedrangeonly,youcanusethebrakes
individuallyforturningortoimprovetraction.Perform
thefollowingwhenusingthebrakesindividually:
Disconnectthepedal-lockinglatch(Figure4).
Forturningassist,pressthecorrespondingbrake
pedaltothesideyouareturning.Thisallowsa
tighterturningradius.
Note:Usetheindividualbrakescarefully,
especiallyonsoftorwetgrass,becausetheturf
maybetornaccidentally.
Fortractionassist,applylightpressuretothe
brakepedalcorrespondingtothefronttirethatis
slipping.Forexample,insomeslopeconditions,
theuphillwheelslipsandlosestraction.Ifthis
situationoccurs,presstheuphillbrakepedal
graduallyandintermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheel
stopsslipping,Thisactionincreasesthetraction
onthedownhillwheel.
UnderstandingToroSmart
Power™
WithSmartPower,theoperatordoesnothaveto
listentotheenginespeedinheavyloadconditions.
SmartPowerpreventstheenginefrombogging
downinheavycuttingconditionsbyautomatically
controllingthemachinespeedandoptimizingcutting
performance.
Note:Bydefault,theSmartPowerfeatureisON.
PerformingaFan-Reverse
Operation
Themachine-fanspeediscontrolledbythe
hydraulic-uidtemperatureandengine-coolant
temperature.Whenthehydraulicuidorcoolant
reachesacertaintemperature,areversefancycle
isautomaticallyinitiated.Thiscycleblowsdebrisoff
therearscreenandlowerstheengine-coolantand
hydraulic-uidtemperatures.
Youcancompleteamanually-initiatedreversecycle
bysimultaneouslypressingtherightandleftbuttons
ontheInfoCenter.Itisrecommendedthatyou
manuallyreversethefanbeforeyouleavethework
areaorenterthemaintenanceorstoragearea.
UnderstandingAutoIdle
Themachineisequippedwithautoidle,which
automaticallyidlestheenginewhenallthefollowing
functionsarenotusedforapre-determinedtimeas
previouslysetintheInfoCenter.
ThetractionpedalisreturnedtotheNEUTRAL
position.
ThePTOisdisengaged.
Noneoftheliftswitchesareactivated.
Whenyouinitiateanyoftheabovefunctions,the
machineautomaticallyreturnstotheprevious
throttleposition.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Thefuelsystemautomaticallybleeds
itselfwhenanyofthefollowingsituationsoccur:
Initialstartupofanewmachine.
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponthefuel
systemcomponents.
1.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
ensurethatitisinneutral.Ensurethatthe
parkingbrakeisset.
2.Movetheengine-speedswitchtotheLOW-IDLE
position.
3.TurnthekeytotheRUNposition.
Note:Theglowindicatorwilllight.
4.Whentheglowindicatordims,turnthekeytothe
STARTposition.Releasethekeyimmediately
whentheenginestartsandallowittoreturnto
theRUNposition.
