CAUTION
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor

•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventtheengine
fromstartingwhen:
•Thebladecontrollever(PTO)isengaged.
•Theignitionkeyisoff.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisalsodesignedtostoptheengine
when:
•Thebladecontrolbailisreleasedwiththebladecontrol
lever(PTO)engaged.
•Theignitionswitchisturnedtotheoffposition.
TestingtheSafetyInterlockSystem
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethemachine
eachtime.Ifthesafetysystemdoesnotoperateasdescribed
below,haveanAuthorizedServiceDealerrepairthesafety
systemimmediately.
1.Settheparkingbrake,disengagethePTOandplace
thethrottleforward.
2.Starttheengine.
3.Withtheenginerunningsqueezethebladecontrol
bailagainstuppercontrolbarandpushthemower
bladecontrolleverforward.Themowerbladesbegin
rotating.
4.Withtheenginerunning,releasethebladecontrolbail.
Theengineshouldstop.
5.Starttheengineagain.
6.Withtheenginerunning,turnthekeyswitchtotheoff
position.Theengineshouldstop.
DrivingForwardorBackward
Thethrottlecontrolregulatestheenginespeedasmeasured
inRPM(revolutionsperminute).Placethethrottlecontrolin
thefastpositionforbestmowingperformance.
DrivingForward
1.Togoforward,movetheshiftlevertoaforwardgear
(Figure10).
2.Releasetheparkingbrake;refertoReleasingthe
ParkingBrake.
3.Slowlypressontheuppercontrolbartomoveforward
(
Figure10).
Togostraight,applyequalpressuretobothendsofthe
uppercontrolbar(Figure10).
Toturn,releasepressureontheuppercontrolbarside
inthedirectionyouwanttoturn(Figure10).
