ReplacingtheTractionDrive
Belt
1.Removehairpincottersecuringbrakerodtobrakearm
torelaxbeltidlertension(Figure40).
2.Removebottomandloosentopboltsofshieldto
rotateforbeltclearance(Figure40).
3.Liftthebeltpastidlerandoffthedrivepulley
(
Figure40).
4.Raisethewheeloffgroundenoughtoallowbelt
removal.
5.Replacethetractiondrivebelt.
6.Secureshieldwithpreviouslyremovedboltandtighten
bolts(Figure40).
7.Securebrakerodtobrakearmwithhairpincotter
(
Figure40).

1.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO)leverandsetthe
parkingbrakes.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop
beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Raisetherearofthemachineandholditupwithjack
stands.

7.Slidetheidlerpulleyintheengineframetotensionthe
tractionbelt(Figure41).

9.Checkthebeltguideundertheengineframeforthe
properadjustment(Figure41).
Note:Thedistancebetweenthebeltguideandmower
beltshouldbe19mm(3/4inch)whenthemower
beltisengaged.Adjustthebeltifnecessary.The
disengagedbeltshouldnotdragorfalloffthepulley
whentheguidesareproperlyadjusted.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Important:Thebrakeneedstobeadjustedwhenthe
belttensionorthebrakelinkageisadjusted.
1.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO)leverandsetthe
parkingbrakes.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop
beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Removetheknobsandthebeltcoveronthemower.
4.Removetheidlerpulleyandthewornbelt.
5.Installthenewmowerbelt.
6.Installtheidlerpulley.
7.Engagethebladecontrol(PTO)leverandcheck
thebelttension.RefertoAdjustingtheMowerBelt
Tension.
Note:Thepropermowerbelttensionis44-67N-m
(10-15ft-lb)withthebeltdeected13mm(1/2inch)
halfwaybetweenthepulleys(Figure45orFigure46).
