Why won't my Toro Snowthrower start?
    • B
      bennettpaulaAug 12, 2025
Several factors could prevent your Toro Snowthrower from starting. Ensure the key is in the ignition and in the On position. Check that the choke is in the On position and the primer has been pressed 3 times. Also, verify the fuel shutoff valve is open and the throttle is in the Fast position. The fuel tank should have fresh gasoline (not more than 30 days old). Inspect the spark plug wire to ensure it's connected, and check the spark plug itself for any damage or incorrect gap. Make sure the fuel cap vent isn't restricted and that the engine oil level is correct. If the air temperature is above 40°F (4°C), remove the carburetor heater box.

What to do if my Toro Snowthrower is not throwing snow?

If your Toro Snowthrower's engine runs but it's not discharging snow well, make sure the throttle is in the Fast position. Try shifting to a lower gear, and reduce the amount of snow you're trying to clear per swath. Avoid trying to remove extremely heavy or wet snow. If the discharge chute is plugged, stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and use a stick to clear the blockage. Check the auger/impeller drive belt to ensure it is properly installed and adjusted, and replace it if it's worn or broken.

How to fix an electric starter that won't turn on my Toro Snowthrower?
    • S
      Sean BanksAug 31, 2025
If the electric starter on your Toro Snowthrower isn't turning, first, check that the power cord is securely connected to both the outlet and the snowthrower. If the cord is worn, corroded, or damaged, replace it. Also, ensure that the power outlet is energized; if not, have a qualified electrician check the outlet.
