Why won't my Toro 38079 Snow Blower engine start?
    • M
      michellemcbrideAug 16, 2025
If your Toro Snow Blower's engine doesn't start or starts with difficulty, make sure the key is properly inserted into the ignition and turned to the On position. Also, ensure the choke is in the On position and the primer has been pressed 3 times. Verify that the fuel shutoff valve is open and the throttle is in the Fast position. Check that the fuel tank isn't empty and contains fresh gasoline (less than 30 days old). Ensure the spark plug wire is securely connected, and inspect the spark plug for any damage, adjusting the gap if needed or replacing it if necessary. Also, confirm that the fuel cap vent isn't blocked, and the engine oil level is correct. If the air temperature is above 40°F (4°C), remove the carburetor heater box.

      Dawn SmithAug 22, 2025
If your Toro Snow Blower runs but doesn't discharge snow well, ensure the throttle is in the Fast position. Try shifting to a lower gear if you're moving too fast. Reduce the amount of snow you're trying to clear per swath, and avoid trying to remove extremely heavy or wet snow. If the discharge chute is plugged, stop the engine, wait for all parts to stop moving, and use a stick to clear the blockage. Check if the auger/impeller drive belt is loose or off the pulley, and adjust or install it as needed. If the belt is worn or broken, replace it.
