7.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutside
ofthelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbright
spots.Ifthelterisdamaged,discardit.
ServicingthePrimaryFilter
•Iftheprimarylterisdirty,bent,ordamaged,
replaceit.
•Donotcleantheprimarylter.
ServicingtheSafetyFilter
Replacethesafetylter,nevercleanit.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafetylter.
Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimarylteris
damaged.Replacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesafetylterisbeingreplaced,carefullyslideit
intothelterbody(
Figure45).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafetylter
(Figure45).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfullyseated
bypushingonitsouterrimwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththesideindicatedas
upfacingupwardandsecurethelatches(
Figure45).

Note:Therearedifferentoilcapacitiesforthe23hp
and25hpengines.Ensurethecorrectcapacityisused.
OilType:Detergentoil(APIserviceSG,SH,SJ,or
higher)

ounces(1.65L);withnolterchange,51ounces(1.5L)
OilCapacityfor25hpengines:withalterchange,59
