3.InspecttheLPGtankandthefuel-connection
jointforleaks.Usethefollowingprocedure
belowtodetectleaks:
A.Applyanapprovedleakdetectorsolution,
obtainedfromatrainedandqualiedLPG
distributor,orathicknon-ammoniasoapy
watersolution(50%non-ammoniasoap
and50%water).
Important:Aleakdetectorsolutionthat
containsammoniacausesthettingsto
corrodeandleak.
B.Usingasmallbrushorspraybottle,apply
thesolutionaroundallthettingsofthe
LPGtankandthefuel-connectionjoint.
C.Slowlyopenthegasvalveahalf-turn.
•Ifyoudetectbubbles,thejointortting
hasaleak.Shutoffthevalve,tighten
theleakingconnection,andslowlyopen
thevalveagain.Ifbubblesstillappear,
donotusethetank.Ifitissafetodo
so,removethetankfromyourmower;
otherwise,contacttrainedandqualied
personnelimmediately.
•Ifyoudonotdetectbubbles,youmay
usetheLPGtank.
InspectingtheSystemWeekly
1.ChecktheLPGhoses,regulator,and
connectionsfordamageordeterioration.
2.ChecktheLPGhoses,regulator,and
connectionsforleaksatalljointsusingthesame
methodasdescribedinInspectingtheSystem
WithEachTankChange(page48).
3.Followalltheinspectionchecksasspeciedin
InspectingtheSystemBeforeEachUse(page
48)andInspectingtheSystemWithEachTank
Change(page48).
TankRequalication
•USDOT(UnitedStatesDepartmentof
Transportation)regulationsrequireLPGtanksto
beinspected,requalied,andmarkedwithin12
yearsofthemanufacturedateandonaregular
basisthereafter.Typicallythisoccurswhenthe
tankisrelled;contactatrainedandqualiedLPG
tankproviderformoredetails.
•DonotlltheLPGtankifitisbeyondthe
requalicationperiod.
•DonotlldamagedorrustedLPGtanks.
ServicingtheElectronic
Fuel-InjectionSystem
Thismachinecontainsanelectronicfuel-injection
system.Itcontrolsthefuelowunderdifferent
operatingconditions.
Theelectronic-controlunit(ECU)continuously
monitorstheoperationoftheEFIsystem.
Ifaproblemorfaultwithinthesystemisdetected,the
malfunction-indicatorlight(MIL)illuminates.TheMIL
istheredlightlocatedintherightconsolepanel.
OncetheMILilluminates,makeinitialtroubleshooting
checks;refertotheMILsectionunderTroubleshooting
(page76).
Ifthesechecksdonotcorrecttheproblem,further
diagnosisandservicingbyanAuthorizedService
Dealerisnecessary.
