oil;refertoCheckingtheEngineOilLevel.
ServicingtheSparkPlug
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Checkthesparkplug.
Every100hours—Replacethesparkplug.
UseaChampionRC12YCorequivalentsparkplug.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
is0.030inch(0.76mm)beforeinstallingthesparkplug.Use
asparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstallingthespark
plugandagappingtoolorfeelergaugetocheckandadjust
theairgap.
RemovingtheSparkPlug
1.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
4.Removetheignitionkey.
5.Openthehood.
6.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(
Figure28).

1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplug(Figure29).Ifyou
seelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,theengineis
operatingproperly.Ablackcoatingontheinsulator
usuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.

Do not clean the spar k plug .
Always
replacethesparkplugwhenithasablackcoating,
wornelectrodes,anoilylm,orcracks.

Figure29)andbendthesideelectrodeifthegapis
notcorrect.
InstallingtheSparkPlug
1.Installthesparkplugandmetalwasher.Ensurethat
theairgapissetcorrectly.
2.Tightenthesparkplugto15ft-lb(20.4N-m).
3.Connectthewiretothesparkplug(Figure28).
4.Closethehood.
