dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
•Replaceswitchesevery2yearsregardlessof
whethertheyareoperatingproperlyornot.
UnderstandingtheSafetyInterlock
System
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventtheengine
fromstartingunless:
•Youaresittingontheseat.
•Thebrakepedalisdepressed.
•Thebladecontrol(PTO)knobisintheDisengaged
position.
•ThetractioncontrolpedalisinNeutral.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemstopstheengineifyourisefrom
theseatandthetractioncontrolpedalisnotintheNeutral
position,theparkingbrakeisnotset,orthebladecontrol
(PTO)knobisintheEngagedposition.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtostopthemowerif:
•YoushiftintoReversewiththeblades(PTO)engaged.
•Youremovethebagordumpthegrass.

Switchto
OperateinReverse
Theinterlockfeatureonthemachinepreventsthepower
take-off(PTO)fromoperatingwhenyoubackupthe
machine.Ifyouoperatethemachineinreversewiththe
blades(PTO)engaged(i.e.,withthemowerbladesorother
attachmentrunning),theenginewillstop.Donotmowin
reverseunlessitisabsolutelynecessary.
Ifyouneedtousetheblades(PTO)whilebackingup,turn
offtheinterlockfeatureusingtheKeyChoiceswitchlocated
neartheseatbracket(
Figure13).
