levelsurfaceandslope.
Alwaysengagetheparkingbrakewhenyoustopthe
machineorleaveitunattended.Iftheparkingbrake
doesnotholdsecurely,adjustit.
1.DisengagethePTOandengagetheparking
brake
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Disengagetheparkingbrake.
4.Engagethebrakeleverandensurethatthe
machinedoesnotmove.
5.Adjustthebrakeifneeded.
AdjustingtheBrakes
1.Removethefueltank;refertoRemovingthe
FuelT ank(page38).
2.Loosentheboltonthecableclampontheleft
sideofthemachine.

mower-deckbelt(s).
Checkbeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarks,
wear,signsofoverheating,oranyotherdamage.
Thesignsofawornmowerbeltaresquealingwhile
thebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhileyouare
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarks,and
cracks.Replacethemowerbeltifyoudetectanyof
thesesigns.
ReplacingtheMower-Deck
Belt
1.DisengagethePTOandengagetheparking
brake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.ReplacethebeltasshowninFigure69.
