RemovingandInstallingtheRearWheelHub
1.Removetherearwheel;refertoRemovingandInstallingtheWheels(page
6–9).
2.Removethedustplugfromthehubassembly.InspectthedustplugO-ring
andreplaceasnecessary.
3.Removetheretainingringandtwistthehubassemblyofftheshaftina
counterclockwise(forward)direction.
4.Installtherearwheelhubinthereverseorder.
5.Whenproperlyinstalled,thehubshouldrotatefreelyinthecounterclockwise
(forward)direction,andengagewiththerearwheelgearboxshaftwhen
rotatedintheclockwise(reverse)direction.
6.Greasethehubttingwithhightemperaturegrease(MobilXHP-222or
equivalent)beforereturningthemachinetoservice.
ServicingtheRearWheelHub
1.Removetheinnerlipseal,thrustwashers,thrustbearings,andwavewasher
fromthehubassembly.
2.Cleanandinspectallofthehubcomponentsandreplacethenasnecessary.
3.Ifbearingreplacementisnecessary:
IMPORTANT
Therollerclutchesaredesignedtorollinonedirectionandlock
intheother(unidirectional).Payattentiontotherollerclutch
orientationwhenreplacingtherollerclutches.Therollerclutches
mustbeinstalledwiththewhiterollercageoftherollerclutchtoward
theinside(lipseal)ofthehub.
