operationforthemachine.
•Avoidstarting,stopping,orturningthemachineon
slopes.Avoidmakingsuddenchangesinspeedor
direction.Maketurnsslowlyandgradually.
•Donotoperateamachineunderanyconditions
wheretraction,steering,orstabilityisinquestion.
•Removeormarkobstructionssuchasditches,
holes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orotherhiddenhazards.
Tallgrasscanhideobstructions.Uneventerrain
couldoverturnthemachine.
•Beawarethatoperatingthemachineonwet
grass,acrossslopes,ordownhillmaycausethe
machinetolosetraction.Lossoftractiontothe
drivewheelsmayresultinslidingandalossof
brakingandsteering.
•Useextremecautionwhenoperatingthemachine
neardrop-offs,ditches,embankments,water
hazards,orotherhazards.Themachinecould
suddenlyrolloverifawheelgoesovertheedge
ortheedgecavesin.Establishasafetyarea
betweenthemachineandanyhazard.
•Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.
Iftherearehazards,mowtheslopewitha
pedestrian-controlledmachine.
•Ifpossible,keepthecuttingunit(s)loweredtothe
groundwhileoperatingonslopes.Raisingthe
cuttingunit(s)whileoperatingonslopescancause
themachinetobecomeunstable.
•Useextremecautionwithgrass-collectionsystems
orotherattachments.Thesecanchangethe
stabilityofthemachineandcausealossofcontrol.
Alwayskeepthemachineingearwhengoing
downslopes.Donotcoastdownhill(applicable
onlytogear-driveunits).
StartingtheEngine
Important:Youmightneedtobleedthefuel
systeminanyofthefollowingsituations:initially
startingupanewmachine,theenginenolonger
runningduetolackoffuel,orfuelsystem
componentsreplacedorserviced.
1.Raisetherollbarandlockitintoplace.
2.Sitontheseatandfastentheseatbelt.
3.EngagedtheparkingbrakeandthesetthePTO
switchtotheOFFposition.
4.Removeyourfootfromtractionpedaland
ensurethatitisinneutral.
5.RotatethekeyswitchtotheON/PREHEAT
position.
Note:Anautomatictimerthencontrolsthe
preheatfor6seconds.
6.Afterpreheating,rotatethekeyswitchtothe
STARTposition,cranktheenginefornolonger
than15seconds,andreleasethekeywhen
theenginestarts.
Note:Iftheengineisstillcold,preheatitmore
byturningthekeytotheOFFposition,thento
theON/PREHEATposition.Repeatthisprocess
asrequired.
7.Movethethrottletoidlespeedorpartialthrottle
andruntheengineuntilitwarmsup.
Important:Whenyoustarttheenginefor
thersttime;orafteryouchangetheengine
oiloroverhaultheengine,transmission,or
axle;operatethemachineinforwardand
reversefor1to2minutes.Also,operate
theliftleverandPTOlevertoensurethat
allpartsareproperlyoperating.Turnthe
power-steeringwheeltotheleftandrightto
checkthesteeringresponse.Thenshutthe
engineoff,checktheuidlevels,andcheck
foroilleaks,looseparts,andanyother
malfunctions.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
1.MovethethrottlecontrolrearwardtotheSLOW
position.
2.MovethePTOswitchtotheOFFposition.
3.RotatekeyswitchtotheOFFposition.
4.Removethekeyfromtheswitchtoprevent
accidentalstarting.
ResettingthePTOFunction
Note:Ifyouleavetheoperator’sseatwhilethe
PTOswitchisintheONposition,themachinewill
automaticallyshutofftheengine.
