How to start a Toro LX465 Lawn Mower when the engine fails to start?
    • B
      ballenAug 13, 2025
If the Toro Lawn Mower engine won't start, make sure the PTO knob (or lever) is disengaged (OFF), the parking brake is engaged, and the spark plug wires are connected. Set the throttle lever to FAST, pull out the CHOKE control (if equipped) or place the throttle in CHOKE. Ensure the fuel tank has clean, fresh gas (less than 30 days old). Clean the fuel line or replace the fuel filter if needed. Clean, adjust the gap, or replace the spark plug. You might also try cranking the engine with the throttle in the FAST position.

If your Toro Lawn Mower won't mulch grass, make sure the throttle control is in the FAST position. Avoid mowing when the grass is wet; wait until it's drier. Try mowing at a high cutting height first, then mow again at the desired height, or narrow the cutting swath. Sharpen or replace the blade if necessary.
