CAUTION

Keepthemachinewellmaintainedandin
goodworkingorderasindicatedinthese
instructions.
WARNING
Ifyouleavethekeyintheignitionswitch,
someonecouldaccidentlystarttheengine
andseriouslyinjureyouorbystanders.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionand
disconnectthewiresfromthesparkplugs
beforeyoudoanymaintenance.Setthewires
asidesothattheydonotaccidentallycontact
thesparkplugs.
PreparingforMaintenance
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostop.
3.Chockthewheels.
4.Removethemachinefromthetractionunit.
5.Allowmachinecomponentstocoolbefore
performingmaintenance.
6.Disconnectthespark-plugwire.
PreparingtheMachinefor
WeldRepairs
Important:Failuretodisconnectthebatterymay
permanentlydamagetotheelectricalsystem.
•Disconnectthenegative-batterycablefromthe
batterybeforeweldingonthemachine.
•Connectthenegative-batterycabletothebattery
afteryounishweldingonthemachine.

•Shutofftheenginebeforecheckingtheoilor
addingoiltothecrankcase.
•Donotchangethegovernorspeedoroverspeed
theengine.
ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Cleanthefoam
airlterelementandcheckthe
paperelementfordamage(more
frequentlyifconditionsaredustyor
sandy).
Every100hours—Replacethepaperairlter
element(morefrequentlyifconditionsaredusty
orsandy).
CheckingtheAirFilter
1.Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamage,which
couldpossiblycauseanairleak.Ensurethe
coverissealingaroundtheaircleanerbody
(Figure13).
