Storage
StorageSafety
Shutoffthemachine,removethekey(ifequipped),
andwaitforallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocoolbefore
adjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
StoringtheMachine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoff
theengine,removethekeyfromtheignition,
waitforallpartstostopmoving,andremovethe
sparkplugwire.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especially
theengine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutside
oftheenginecylinderheadnsandblower
housing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuseof
water.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page21).
4.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoChangingthe
Oil(page24).
5.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page14).
6.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-use
occursover30days.Preparemachinefor
storageasfollows:
A.Addapetroleum-based
stabilizer/conditionertofuelinthetank.
Followmixinginstructionsfromstabilizer
manufacture.Donotuseanalcoholbased
stabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshfuel,and
usedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,and
drainthefueltank;refertoServicingthe
FuelT ank(page26).
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.Startandruntheengine
untilitdoesnotstart.
F.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleaccording
tolocalcodes.
