•AlwaysremoveboththeignitionandKeyChoice

1.Engagethebladecontrol(PTO).
2.InserttheKeyChoicekeyintotheswitch(Figure12).
3.TurntheKeyChoicekey.
Note:Aredlightonthefrontconsole(Figure5)turns
on,indicatingthattheinterlockisdisabled.
4.Shiftthetraction-controlswitchintoReverseand
completeyourtask.
5.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO)toactivatethe
interlock.
6.RemovetheKeyChoicekeyandputitinasafeplace
outofthereachofchildren.
TestingtheSafetyInterlock
System
CAUTION
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
•Replaceswitchesevery2yearsregardlessof
whethertheyareoperatingproperlyornot.
Testthesafetysystembeforeyouusethemachineeachtime.
Ifthesafetyinterlocksystemdoesnotoperateasdescribed
below,haveanAuthorizedServiceDealerrepairthesafety
interlocksystemimmediately.Whilesittingintheseat,
performthefollowingchecks:
1.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)toEngageandturnthe
ignitionkeytoStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
2.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)toDisengage,remove
yourfootfromthetraction-controlpedal,andstart
theengine.Whiletheengineisrunning,shiftthe
bladecontrol(PTO)switchtoEngageandmovethe
traction-controlpedaltoReverse:Thebladecontrol
(PTO)shoulddisengage.
3.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)toDisengageand
removeyourfootfromthetraction-controlpedal.Start
theengine,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)switchto
Engage,andturntheKeyChoicekeyandreleaseit:The
operating-in-reversewarninglightshouldilluminate.
4.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)toDisengage:The
operating-in-reversewarninglightshouldturnoff.
PushingtheMachineManually
Important:Alwayspushthemachinemanually.Never
towthemachinebecauseyoumaydamagethetransaxle.
ToPushtheMachine
1.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO).
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.PullthedrivecontrolouttothePushposition.
