•Forthebestperformance,operatetheengineatthe
maximumspeed.Themowerrequiresairtothoroughly
cutgrassclippings,sodonotsettheheight-of-cuttoo
loworcompletelysurroundthemowerinuncutgrass.
Alwaysleaveonesideofthemowerfreefromuncutgrass
toallowtheairtobedrawnintothemower.
•Cutthegrassslightlylongerthannormaltoensurethat
thecuttingheightofthemowerdoesnotscalpany
unevenground.Whencuttinggrasslongerthan15cm
(6inch)tall,cutthelawntwicetoensureanacceptable
appearance.
•Itisbesttocutonlyabout1/3ofthegrassblade.Donot
cutmorethanthatunlessthegrassissparseoritislate
fallwhengrassgrowsmoreslowly.
•Alternatethemowingdirectiontokeepthegrassstanding
straight.Thisalsohelpsdisperseclippingsandenhances
decompositionandfertilization.
•Grassgrowsatdifferentratesatdifferenttimesofthe
season.Tomaintainthesamecuttingheight,whichis
agoodpractice,mowmoreofteninearlyspring.As
thegrassgrowthrateslowsinmidsummer,mowless
frequently.
•Toimprovethequalityofcut,useaslowergroundspeed.
Forbestoperationonaveragelawns,operatetheengine
atfullthrottlewhilecontrollingthegroundspeed.You
shouldoperatethemachinebetween3.2to5.6km/h(2
to3.5mph)whilemowing.
•Ifthegrassislongerthannormal,orifitcontainsahigh
degreeofmoisture,raisethecuttingheighthigherthan
usual,cutthegrassatthatsetting,andthencutthegrass
againatthelower,normalsetting.
•Ifyoumuststopthemachinewhilemowing,youmay
leaveaclumpofgrassclippingsonyourlawn.Toavoid
this,dothefollowing:
–Engagethebladesandmovetoapreviously-cutarea.
–Dispersetheclippingsevenlybyraisingthemower1
or2height-of-cutsettingswhiledrivingforwardwith
thebladesengaged.
•Usethewashoutporttocleanclippingsanddirtfrom
theundersideofthemoweraftereachuse.Ifgrassand
dirtbuildupinsidethemower,thecuttingqualitywill
eventuallybecomeunsatisfactory.
•Maintainasharpbladethroughouttheseason.Asharp
bladecutsgrasscleanlywithouttearingorshreddingthe
grassblades.Tearingandshreddingthegrassturnsit
brownattheedges,whichslowsitsgrowthandincreases
thechanceofdisease.Every30days,checkthebladefor
sharpnessandledownanynicks.
