P ress the powe r button a nd hold it down for five s e conds . Once the
compute r ha s turne d its elf off, wa it between ten a nd fifte en s e conds be fore
turning the powe r on a ga in by pre s sing the powe r button.

If you a re working with a progra m tha t sudde nly fre eze s all ope rations ,
cha nce s are the progra m ha s s toppe d re sponding. You ca n e xit the faile d
program without s hutting down the ope ra ting system or closing othe r
programs .
To close a program that ha s s toppe d re s ponding:
1. P re ss CTRL, ALT, a nd DEL s imultane ous ly (once), the n click Ta s k
Ma nager. The Windows Task Ma na ge r window a ppe a rs.
2. S e le ct the program you wa nt to clos e , the n click End Ta s k. Clos ing
the fa iled progra m should a llow you to continue working. If it does not,
continue with the next s te p.
3. Close the rema ining progra ms one by one by s electing the progra m
na me , the n En d Tas k. Clos ing all progra ms s hould a llow you to
continue working. If it doe s not, powe r off your compute r a nd then
re start it.
