ThisClassAsystemconformstoNSFStandard55forthedisinfectionofmicrobiologicallycontaminatedwaterthatmeetsallother
publichealthstandards.Thesystemisnotintendedfortreatmentofwaterthathasanobviouscontaminationsource,suchasraw
sewage;noristhesystemintendedtoconvertwastewatertomicrobiologicallysafedrinkingwater.Thesystemisintendedtobe
installedonvisuallyclearwater(notcolored,cloudy,orturbidwater).Ifthissystemisusedforthetreatmentofsurfacewatersa
prefilterfoundtobeincomplianceforcystreductionunderNSF/ANSIStandard53:DrinkingWaterTreatmentUnits-HealthEffects
shallbeinstalledupstreamofthesystem.
NSFStandard55defineswastewatertoincludehumanand/oranimalbodywaste,toiletpaper,andanyothermaterialintendedto
bedepositedinareceptacledesignedtoreceiveurineand/orfeces(blackwaste);andotherwastematerialsdepositedinplumbing
fixtures(graywaste).
