9. Obtain the density count ratio by dividing the moisture
count by the moisture standard count. The fractional result
is then correlated with the closest moisture value found in
the calibration tables supplied with the gauge. Interpolation
may be necessary.
10. Calculate the Dry Density (DD) as follows: DD = WD-M.
11. Calculate the Percent Moisture (%M) as follows:

NOTE
On soils that have not previously been checked by a
nuclear gauge, a moisture sample may be obtained
at a point of test to determine if a correction factor is
needed. If a correction factor is necessary, it can be
determined by following the procedures starting on
page 5-2. A correction factor for a given soil need
only be determined once. The correction can then be
reused in future testing with the same gauge.
