Overview

This document describes the UMIDIGI BISON 2 PRO (RP04), a smartphone designed for robust use and enhanced user experience. It provides detailed instructions on its features, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The UMIDIGI BISON 2 PRO is a smartphone that offers a range of functionalities, from basic communication to advanced multimedia and connectivity. It is designed to be a reliable device for everyday use, with features catering to both casual users and those requiring more rugged performance. The device supports dual SIM card functionality, allowing users to manage two different networks simultaneously. It also includes a TF card slot for expandable storage, which is useful for storing photos, videos, and other data. The phone is equipped with a camera system that includes a main, super wide-angle, and macro lens, enabling users to capture various types of photos and videos. For security, it features a fingerprint ID function for unlocking the screen. Connectivity options include WLAN for internet access, Bluetooth for pairing with other devices, and GNSS for navigation. The device also supports NFC for various applications.

Usage Features

The UMIDIGI BISON 2 PRO is designed with user convenience in mind.

  • Power Button: A long press of the power button turns the device on or off. When the device is on, a short press of the power button will shut down or turn on the screen. This button is also integrated with the fingerprint scanner for quick and secure unlocking.
  • Volume Button: Short presses of the volume button adjust the volume or mute incoming calls, providing quick control over audio settings.
  • Customizable Buttons: The device features two customizable buttons, allowing users to assign specific functions or shortcuts for quick access to frequently used applications or settings.
  • Card Insertion: The manual provides clear instructions for inserting Nano-SIM cards and TF cards. Users are advised to face the chip side of the Nano-SIM card adown and be aware of the cut edge direction. For TF cards, the metal contact should face adown, and the card should be placed onto the tray before insertion. It is crucial to use standard Nano-SIM cards and avoid hand-cut cards to prevent damage to the SIM slot and card tray.
  • Dual-SIM Management: The device supports dual SIM functionality, allowing users to select which SIM card slot will be the main one for 4G network via the Settings menu. Users can also choose their preferred network types (4G/3G/2G) through the device settings.
  • Fingerprint Identification: To unlock the screen using fingerprint ID, users need to enroll their fingerprint information through the Security & Location settings. Once set up, placing a finger pulp on the touch ID sensor for about a second will unlock the phone.
  • Network Connection:
    • WLAN: To connect to a Wi-Fi network, users can navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. A list of available Wi-Fi connections will appear. Users can select their desired network, enter the password if required, and click "Connect."
    • Bluetooth: Bluetooth functionality can be enabled via Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth. Users can then search for available Bluetooth devices, select the desired device for pairing, and click "Pair." Documents can be transmitted after successful pairing. Shortcut switches for Bluetooth and other functions are accessible by sliding down the status bar twice.
    • WLAN Hot-spot: The portable WLAN Hot-spot function can be activated via Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering > Wi-Fi hotspot. Users can set up their user name and password for the hot-spot, allowing other devices to connect.
  • Camera: The camera automatically focuses on the shooting object. Users can also tap on the screen to select a specific object to focus on, then tap the "Capture" icon to take photos. The device supports various modes, including video recording, beautifying, and panorama.
  • Dual-Card Standby: The device supports "dual card, dual standby, single pass," meaning both SIM cards are available for receiving calls in standby mode. However, once one card is activated for a call, the other cannot receive calls simultaneously.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the UMIDIGI BISON 2 PRO.

  • Card Insertion Precaution: Users are reminded to turn off the phone before changing or replacing the TF card. It is also advised not to plug in or out the SIM card tray when the phone is on, and to be careful when using the slot thimble to avoid scratching the phone.
  • Fingerprint Sensor Care: To ensure accurate fingerprint identification, users should ensure their finger is clean and dry when enrolling or using the fingerprint sensor.
  • Data Connection for Hotspot: Before enabling the WLAN hot-spot, users must enable the Data Connection. It is important to use this feature carefully as mobile traffic will be shared with other devices.
  • Temperature Management: Users should prevent the device or battery from being exposed to extreme cold or hot conditions, as extreme temperatures can lead to deformation of the phone, reduced charging capacity, and shorter battery life.
  • Battery and Charger Usage: Only custom-designed and approved batteries and rechargers from UMIDIGI should be used. Incompatible batteries and rechargers can damage the phone. Users must adhere to local regulations when disposing of used batteries and phones.
  • Heat Exposure: The battery or phone should not be placed on or inside heating devices such as microwaves, ovens, or radiators, as this can cause the battery to explode.
  • Physical Damage Prevention: Users should avoid crushing or piercing the battery. Preventing the battery from high external pressure can prevent internal short circuits and overheating.
  • Software Integrity: UMIDIGI holds a disclaimer for performance problems or incompatibility caused by third-party applications, registry editing, or OS software modification. Customizing the OS may cause the device or some applications to malfunction.
